Viva Elvis – Elvis PresleyView More By Elvis Presley Our ReviewThe Cirque du Soleil show takes Elvis Presley’s music and energizes it for the 2010 crowd. The visual show includes acrobatics and video clips. The musical portion, presented here on this album, is a charge of echo, distorted guitars and hyper-jacked beats and effects. “Blue Suede Shoes” sounds like it was invented for a disco. “Heartbreak Hotel” sounds like a heavy-metal band has stumbled into Elvis’ recording session. “Love Me Tender” adds a female duet partner. “Burning Love” adds steroidal guitar licks and beats that turn the song into a modern-day arena anthem. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” throws the vocal over to a female country singer. “Suspicious Minds” sounds like a lush ‘80s power ballad, like Elvis came back and hooked up with Rod Stewart’s producer. Elvis fans are likely to be divided on this album. But it should be clear that this is merely the soundtrack to a popular multi-media extravaganza that celebrates the career of Elvis Presley. As long as the original versions remain in print (and they do), then surely there is no harm in other musicians attempting to reinvent them.. Customer ReviewsNot all that impressed (2 stars)Guess I am a traditionalist and think the best should just stay untouched. Not for me. Viva Elvis (5 stars) Remember this is the soundtrack to the Viva Elvis show in Las Vegas. My wife and I saw the show and we both loved it. In my opinion you really need to see the show to enjoy the soundtrack. Love this album. (5 stars) Whatever people say about the songs Elvis released, the thing that made them unique and powerful was his voice and the way he lived the songs he sang. I love the new arrangements, but what I love most is that the songs give us another change to hear the King's great vocals, as wonderful as ever, a clear as ever and not modulatd through some computer program. This is a complete treat for music fans and Elvis fans in particular. BiographyBorn: January 08, 1935 in Tupelo, MSGenre: Rock Years Active: '50s, '60s, '70s Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s,...
