Troubadour – George StraitView More By George Strait Our ReviewIn the sentimental title track to Troubadour, George Strait recollects his hell-raising heydays of age 25 while singing seasoned harmonies over parlor pianos and the warm pedal steel notes of a moving honky-tonk ballad. It's a great way to set the tone for an album that follows 2007's award winning It Just Comes Natural. The romantic "It Was Me" follows "Troubadour," recalling the melodies of Richie Adams and Alan Bernstein's "After The Lovin'." Picking things up, the country rocking "Brothers Of The Highway" shifts gears to reveal a newborn trucker's anthem. With its boot stomping roadhouse rhythms, easy-on-the-ears vocals, driving guitar lines, and a chorus that triumphantly sings, "Sailing for the setting sun/ Freedom's your best friend/ Brothers of the highway/ Children of the wind," it's surprising that "I Saw God Today" was chosen to be the first single off Troubadour instead. The sultry voiced Patty Loveless duets with Strait on "House Of Cash," a gripping tribute to the late, great Man In Black and his beloved June. Dean Dillon also lends his velvety pipes on "That West Texas Town," a delightfully anachronistic little western swing revival of a song.. Customer ReviewsStrait_cowgirl (5 stars)This album is amazing! It's another good one from the King of Country Music! Highlights of the album are the first single 'I Saw God Today', House of Cash (the duet with Patty Loveless), Give Me More Time, and Make Her Fall In Love WIth Me Song. The album fits Strait to a T. It shows how much richer his voice has gotten and that quality country music we have come to expect from George Strait. It's sure to be another classic! Pretty Good Overall (4 stars) It's George, enough said! The album is solid overall and all of the songs are pretty good. With that said, I personally look for greatness and there are a few songs that seemed to stand out in my mind. "I Saw God Today" is the best song on this album in my mind, and most country fans likely have heard its greatness already. The other tracks that I enjoyed are as follows "House With No Doors", "Make Her Fall In Lo I bought "House of Cash" (5 stars) I just downloaded "House of Cash" and this song is AWESOME! I'm glad he choose Patty Loveless to sing this song with, her voice is so country and great! What a great song! George Strait is "The King of Country."
