Our Review

John Lennon is a cultural icon who wrote songs that will be sung for generations. His post-Beatles career was one of artistic wandering. 1970’s Plastic Ono Band was an intense self-analysis. Imagine was his utopian vision (“Imagine”) coupled with his vicious social commentary (“Gimme Some Truth”). Some Time In New York City is his most overtly political. Rock ‘n’ Roll is his childhood dream of playing his favorites come to life. The great moments (“Working Class Hero,” “God,” “Instant Karma!,” “Imagine”) are genius. The “average” moments still feature one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest voices and make him seem so endearingly human. The “home demos” showcase his brilliant humor. It’s an understatement to say the man changed the world. The iTunes Signature Box includes John Lennon’s studio albums from the ‘70s (Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Some Time In New York City, Mind Games, Walls & Bridges and his collection of covers Rock ‘n’ Roll), along with the original version of his 1980 comeback album with Yoko Ono, Double Fantasy, the posthumous release, 1984’s Milk and Honey, and various home demos and studio outtakes.

Disappointment for long time John Lennon Fans (1 star)
If you have been a John Lennon fan for a long time trying to collect his studio outtakes and home recording you will be very disappointed to learn that you have to buy the whole signature box set just to get the 13 tracks on the last disc. If each song is going for $1.29 you could have made $16.77 from me and the thousands of long time John Lennon fans.

I Love John Lennon and His Music... (1 star)
BUT:
These "remasters" are so horrible, they are a step backwards from
the previous remasters that Yoko oversaw, and were subsequently
released every year on the anniversary of Johns' birthday, starting in 2000.
If you have those remasters...hang on to them, and skip these.
Just a "heads up".

John Lennon Saved My Life (5 stars)
I loved the Beatles ever since I can remember. When I was in Junior High I was introduced to John Lennon's Imagine album and remember clearly hearing the Song How and it spoke to me on a level that no one else can (and it really got me through all those really hard times). Now, 35 I decided that I would purchase this box set to have all the 70's recordings of John Lennon's work. I have to admit I am not a fan of remasters without bonus track
