Pure BS – Blake SheltonView More By Blake Shelton Our ReviewIt takes confidence to title your album Pure BS, even if your name is Blake Shelton. Fortunately, this 2007 release is remarkably bull-free, both in terms of the singer’s emotionally-engaged performances and the integrity of the material. There’s real longing and anguish to be heard in songs like “I Don’t Care,” “She Don’t Love Me,” and the Rodney Crowell-ish “I Have Been Lonely.” The standout in this vein is “Back There Again,” a pain-etched (but ultimately redemptive) narrative that ranks with Shelton’s early hit “The Baby” for heart-tugging impact. Shelton shakes off his sorrows on the barroom stomper “The More I Drink” and sets his inner rebel loose on “It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Me.” He closes on a thoughtful note with “The Last Country Song,” a twang-laden protest against suburban sprawl featuring George Jones and John Anderson. Producers Bobby Braddock, Paul Worley and Brent Rowen keep the spotlight on Shelton’s burly yet nuanced vocals without dulling the bite of the tracks. If all of this is Pure BS, today’s country could use more of it.. Customer ReviewsTerrific Album! There are the usual "Blake songs" that make us laugh ("This Can't Be Good" and "The More I Drink"), there's an interesting collaborative effort with "The Last Country Song", and there are also some incredibly moving and beautiful ballads..."Don't Make Me", "I Have Been Lonely", and the o Countrylover (5 stars) Blake Shelton has an amazingly unique voice, and through the songs on this album they are showcased by not only fun drinking songs but also power ballads such as "Don't Make Me", "I Don't Care", and "Home." One of his best Albums yet, and a must buy for all country fans. Great album!! Blake's best so far. (5 stars) This is a great country record. Every song is solid, "Home" and "Don't Make Me" are awesome. I wish radio would play him more because Blake is a great country artist, who's right on the edge of greatness. His record label must be asleep at the wheel because this album should be huge. He's great in concert too! He has a really good band, the drummer is awesome. If you get a chance go see Blake in concert you won't be dissa BiographyBorn: 1976 in Ada, OKGenre: Country Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Oklahoma native Blake Shelton moved to Nashville in 1994, two weeks after his high-school graduation, to launch a songwriting career that would eventually make him one of the leading males in contemporary country music.
