Love Is the Answer (Orchestra Version) – Barbra StreisandView More By Barbra Streisand Our ReviewThis understated yet emotionally resonant album strikes a note of hope amidst heartache, offering a toast to life and the promise of its eternal renewal. Producer Diana Krall helps keep the focus upon Streisand’s inimitable voice, framing her with Johnny Mandel’s well-tailored arrangement and her own smooth piano work. Streisand finds a new richness in these mostly familiar tunes, treating them as immediate expressions of feeling rather than cherished standards. “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” and “Here’s That Rainy Day” have a confessional quality, underscored by her intimate, nuanced delivery. She brings out the wry humor beneath the sadness in “Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most” and finds the pathos within “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes.” The Brazilian tunes “Gentle Rain” and “Love Dance” add a sultry rhythmic pulse to the album’s elegant ambiance. Overall, Love Is the Answer ranks among Streisand’s most unguarded and revelatory works. The warmth and grace of its performances can be heard with even more clarity on the quartet-only recordings found on the album’s deluxe edition.. Customer ReviewsPerfection! (5 stars)Ms. Streisand is in a class all by herself. She is sheer perfection and by far the worlds most gifted performer. Thank you for this gift Barbara!! LOVE IS THE ANSWER (5 stars) Barbra is the best female vocalist, artist, actress, & performer EVER!!! She had me hooked since I first saw FUNNY GIRL!! I have all of her music, movies, concert CD's etc. Keep on singing forever!! I Love it!! Lovely! (5 stars) So nice to hear Babs go back to her roots of classics. While the cd is highly orchestrated, it is not overproduced as some of her recent albums have been. The choice of songs on this is flawless, and I love the new mellow quality of her voice now. Born in 1942 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she struggled briefly as an actress and nightclub singer in New York during...
