It would be easy to find this fusion of trance/jazz/minimalism--it's own category, actually--repetitive, if you weren't truly listening. But just as repeated notes or bars approach the outer edge of monotony, a slight change of pitch or rhythm takes you somewhere new. Mind-blowing (5 stars)
This album, the second from the "piano trio" Dawn of Midi, is something quite new and unique. A highly danceable groove, but also cerebral and deep. Not really jazz, and not really electronic music (especially since there are no electronic instruments; only piano, bass and drums). It's something else.

Dysnomia album is simply is revolutionary. Heartfelt, minimal, beautifully nuanced. Read the album took four years to make, and it shows. Everytime I listen, I discover new layers. Each note is considered. The album is not a collection of tracks, but journey. Movements move and transform into one another smoothly. This album is meant to be listened to over and over.
