I like the new direction mat is taking...you can definitely tell the influence from Fat Freddy's Drop on this. I know this will be jamming in my car for the next few months. So glad to see em back!!! Been so long.. Wow (5 stars) This is by far my favorite TBG album, I have been waiting on this for a long time! Digging The Grooves (5 stars) The Beautiful Girls and also Mat McHugh have such a deep catalog that it is hard to classify this record as the “best” album, but it’s right up there. The songs are all great (no filler) and the grooves are incredible. I agree with the review above that I am digging the direction Mat and TBGs are going in. I can only image how fun this would be to see at a live show. Standout tracks to me are Dancehall Days, Real Love, Control, and BiographyFormed: 2001 in Sydney, AustraliaGenre: Alternative Years Active: '00s Centered around singer/songwriter Mat McHugh, the eclectic Australian rock group Beautiful Girls make rootsy, folk-inflected pop that has drawn comparisons to such like-minded artists as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, and Mason Jennings.
