Christopher Owens final transformation (5 stars)
I've been an avid listener of Chris' stuff since Girls first started up. A lot of the songs I see on this album are actually old songs he has written back in 2009 era. I've seen various acoustic and non formal presentations of them. His sound has really evolved and it sounds like (from what's readily available to hear at this moment) that he has finally made the transition into country music like he has been leaning toward the past years. Not long after the release of Girls’ second album Father, Son, Holy Ghost, singer Christopher Owens announced that he was leaving the indie duo in pursuit of a solo career. Taking on a lighter brand of music, he began chasing the ghosts of ‘70s AM pop, integrating flutes and classical guitar in his recordings. In 2012, Fat Possum signed Owens to a recording deal and in early 2013 released his album Lysandre, a very personal debut that chronicled Owens’ difficulties coping...
